Are you TACKY enough!????

Did I wait long enough to post this!?? It has been almost a week since the party! Just trying to be Tacky still!! LOL (or I've been sick all week and didn't care to post anything... your pick)

Tacky Party definition:
a HILARIOUS party thrown by the only one who could... Scotts grandma.
Come and be as tacky as you can be with your family around to witness the laughs.

I have to tell you that I TOTALLY LOVE Scotts grandma! She is SO SO FUNNY!!!!! She throws the BEST parties!!! The Tacky Party is kind of a family tradition for them. This is maybe the 3rd or 4th one they have had. My first time coming though! I LOVED IT!!! G-ma had the whole place decorated AWFUL! picture a classic beautiful spotless home... with fly paper hanging around the Steinway! She even went to the police station and got some police line tape from them!! she had it across the door with a body sketch in the drive way!!! Along with the random elements left haphazardly around her lawn (hose, lawn mower, and several pink flamingos!) The tables were great too! Lined with news paper and centerpices of beer bottles with fake flowers shoved in them! (this at an all LDS family party no less!!! She got them from a neighbor!) LOL Here is a page I did with pictures from the party! I will post some individual ones so you can see them a little better. G-ma is the one in the LO with the 'long hair'.

Here is my favorite costume of the evening. Every time I saw her I would just bust out in laughter!!! She even had toilet paper stuck to her shoe!!! HAHA!

Here is the whole motley crew! What a fun bunch of nuts!

There was a peanut spitting contest. Both of my boys put in a good show. Scott almost got the farthest.... (except for that Jack and Artur... they just HAD to spit the peanuts into G-ma's garden!!) Braden 'won' for spitting the most peanuts I think. He was putting them in and spitting them out as fast as a baseball pitching machine! We had to keep them coming or he would go the the ones in the grass for a second try! lol

And of course the costume you have all been waiting to see.... the lovely.....incredible..... amazingly beautiful..... me

And last but not least... the dessert I brought...

Yes it really is a dessert....Kitty Litter Cake! Now for the really tacky ending to my story... There was SO MUCH of my cake left over... (it is 2 box cakes layered with pudding and cookie crumbs on top) Scott and I had a dinner party on Monday night with friends.... (at lease I hope they will still be our friends when they read this....)I took the 'turds' off the cake (tootsie rolls) and dumped it into a fancy bowl... added some chocolate chips and a bit more pudding on the top... called it trifle.... HAHAHA! HOW TACKY AM I! They loved the fancy dessert though!! HEHE.... gratefully Amalyssa didn't recognize the cake anymore either... or she would have told my secret for sure (while they where happily eating it)!!!

Well... there you have it! The Tacky Party report!! Hope you got a little chuckle at least!

Birthday fun for everyone!

YIKES! How does time go so fast? Another Aug. week of madness has passed us by! This last week is the busiest week of the year around here... and this year was no exception!!!

Scott and I had our anniversary. It has really flown by!
Big sis had her birthday. That was a busy day!!!! This year I threw a friends party for her. She had SO MUCH FUN! She planned most of it (really... she told me everything that she wanted, including "lots of party guests so that I can get LOTS of presents!") It was a fairy themed party and she and several guests were dressed in fairy costumes. They colored fairy pictures and made fairy wands and I even managed to make a fairy cake!!! WOOT! GO ME! (hey... it was my first real decorated cake... and I did good! lol) She had a great time at the party and thanks to my good friend I had a good time too!!! She is a WONDERFUL friend who came to help me with the party (of course her son was a guest as well) Later in the evening when dad got home we took her out to the restaurant of her choice. After dinner she got to open family presents. She was pretty sure even the sun revolved around her by the end of the day.... she loved it! Here are some picts of the B-day girl!

And last but not least is my birthday! Hubby took the day off from work as an anniversary/birthday celebration day. He took me out on a date and we saw "Dark Knight" (very good!) then he took the kids and I out for ice cream!!!! YUMMERS!!!!
For my b-day I got some WONDERFUL gifts!!!

I got "Breaking Dawn" (a book that I have wanted SOOO MUCH) from hubby. I can't WAIT to start reading it!!! My mom gave me a cute shirt and another year subscription to "Memory Makers" magazine! MIL got me a Cuttlebug machine!! WOOT! Hubby also gave me some money (from the kids... hehe) So big sis and I went shopping and got more things for my Cuttlebug!! We had SO MUCH FUN making cards this afternoon!!!! Here are some of the cards I made!!!

Overall it has been a great week!! Lots of fun and great memories!! Tomorow will be a blast too!!! Grandma is throwing a 'Tacky Party'!!!! What is that you ask?? Guess you will have to check back in a day or two and find out!!!!!! Same bat time... Same bat channel!!!!

Funny cow story

So... one quick story for you who acctually read my blog. Please don't think me terrible for posting this story on my blog... I just find it SO FUNNY!

I am driving home with Amalyssa today and we pass a field with cow's in it. She is commenting on how big the cows are. All of a sudden..... one of the cows jumps up onto the back of another cow..... ahem..... Amalyssa says
"Mommy... did you see what those cows just did!!!"
"Yes dear, I did"
"I have NEVER seen cows do THAT before"
"Neither have I dear" (trying not to bust up laughing)
"That is a NEAT TRICK!!!!!"

HAHAHAHAHAH!!!! Oh to be innocent!!! She is too funny!! She thought is was the neatest thing she had ever seen cows do! It took everything I had not to bust up laughing right there!! I didn't want to have to explain WHY mommy was laughing!! hehe.

First day of Kindergarten!

YIKES!!!! It is finally here.... the day every mother looks forward to... and dreads!!!! LOL. Today was Amalyssa's first day of kindergarten!! What a fun day it was!!! I didn't even cry!

Amalyssa was of course totally excited for school. She is such a social bug that she wasn't even a bit nervous! She bounded into my room 45 min early this morning all sunshine and smiles to tell me it was morning and time for kindergarten!

On Friday she had an evaluation thing with her teacher and afterwards we went out school shopping! Amalyssa LOVED getting several new outfits and hair things! What did I get? LOTS to read... yeah me! I want new clothes! LOL

Sunday I had a minor break down! At the evaluation Amalyssa had been given a paper doll to decorate. Sunday morning we started on the project and Amalyssa went to town! She LOVED it and did it all herself! It was a rude reality check that she is going to be in school... and she really is ready for it! So I snuck in the other room and shed a few tears..... then I was fine! LOL

Today when Braden and I dropped her off I wasn't sad at all! (mostly because I was to tired! lol) She ran off to the play ground and hardly looked back! When I picked her up she was all smiles! She had a great time. Her only complaint was that there are only 2 other girls in her class (yeah... really!) and she had to sit at a table with 2 boys! LOL... she didn't like that at all! (myself I feel bad for the poor teacher!)
Here are some pictures of the first day outfit and hair do! Amalyssa is such a princess!

Back from NY city!!!

We are back from our FUN trip to NY city! We had such a great time!! I have taken about 2 hours getting my favorite pictures together in a slide show for you!

THANK YOU MOM AND GRANDMA! They were so kind and watched the kids for us so Scott and I could have a fun mom and dad trip!

I think I will let the pictures do most of the talking (especially since I have taken 2 hours of my day already on this!) But just a fast run down of the trip for you!

Day 1. flew in and had just enough time to check into our Hotel before dinner. Se stayed in the Desmond Tutu Center. VERY BEAUTIFUL! It is a seminary that they have opened part of it up as a hotel! We had dinner with the other employees on Times Square and then walked around after dinner. I have seen Times Square a hundred times in the movies... but it was JAW DROPPING! No amount of pictures can do it justice!

Day 2. Scott had to go into the office along with some of the other employees so I spent the day with two of the 'office wifes'. we had a BLAST!!! We spent the whole day seeing sights on 5th avenue! Shopping at street vendors was fun too! We went into Versace... and felt like the BIGGEST RED NECKS!! HAHA. A scarf was only $350!!!! We saw the public library, St Patrick's Cathedral, Tiffany's, FAO Swartz, the Plaza Hotel, and ate at Micky Mantels sports bar! (we even got to sit in HIS booth! It had a sign saying that it was the booth where he always sat!). We were SO worn out by the end of the day! Had dinner at an all you can eat Sushi bar and YES I had SUSHI! I even liked it.... a little... lol. After dinner we went to Grand Central Station.

Day 3. All the employees has to go into the NY office today so there were 7 of us 'wifes' that went out together for the day! We walked around HALF of Central Park... talk about a big park!!! Then we ate lunch at Serendipity (yes, the one in the movie Serendipity!) that was a really fun girls activity! After that we took the subway to the Ferry. We saw that Statue of liberty and NY sky line from the ferry. That night was Scotts office party. I was SOOOO TIRED by then! It was still a nice evening even though my heels were KILLING me!! Scott won an award for the second year in a row which was really fun!

Day 4. this was the day that Scott and I got to spend together. I was SO TIRED thought that I let him set the pace and choose the activities. We went to Ripley's Believe it or Not on Times Square. That was REALLY fun and we both liked it a lot! After that I took him to FAO Swartz. Then he took me to Carnegie Deli for some YUMMY NY cheese cake! We came back to the Hotel at about 3:00 for a nap and the plan was to go to the top of the Rockefeller Center later that evening... but we both crashed so hard we didn't wake up in time. lol.

Day 5. Our flight left EARLY in the morning... (we had to leave the hotel at 5:00 NY time - 3:00 am our time) The flight was nice and uneventful and we spent the rest of the day sleeping in our OWN bed!!! My Dad was kind enough to bring the kids back from Idaho for us that night.

The trip was totally amazing and I took a TON of pictures!!! I had SUCH a great time! I hope I get to go back to NY some day! Which is really saying a lot since that was one city I never cared to visit, and now I want to go back!!!!!!
